How To Balance Extra Curricular Activities With Academics  Icon Zainab  Hello Colleague, We all understand how challenging it may be to balance our involvement in extracurricular activities and academics as students at the most prominent university, OAU. However, did you realize that you may balance them without favouring one over the other? Exams are quickly approaching, and as we are all aware, the semester is short due to the protracted strike. So, here are some suggestions for finding that balance. Your studies should come first. While extracurriculars are important, your academics should come first. Your primary goal in the university should be to obtain a degree, so make that your top priority. Your priority is to attain the best possible learning outcomes in terms of grades. It can make sense when some claim that school is a scam, but dear friend, put forth your best effort and finish what you can. Create a Schedule. This is just another crucial phase in the process.

Lionel Messi Saves Argentina Again

Lionel Messi Brilliance Keeps Argentina World Cup Hopes Alive  Icon Mofe  Lionel Messi's exquisite goal helped keep Argentina's World Cup hopes alive as they claimed a much-needed win over Mexico at Lusail Stadium on Saturday, 26 November. After a humiliating 2-1 defeat against Saudi Arabia, Argentina came up against Mexico with high tensions knowing another loss would mean elimination. Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni had sought to do things differently by shaking up the team, making five changes with Martinez and Mac Allister among the included.  This however did not bring about much improvement as the Argentinian team seemed to struggle to concede a goal. After a mediocre first half, Messi, picking up Angel Bi Maria's pass, arrowed a precise shot from a 20-metre distance to the bottom corner of the goalpost in a truly stunning goal in the 64th minute. Later on in the game, substitute Enzo Fernández, taking advantage of a pass from his captain, sea

TOP FIVE OAU FEMALE STUDENTS' HAIRSTYLES YOU NEED TO TRY THIS SEMESTER  Omolayo Olufayo  The semester has been the most rigorous so far and having to pack and unpack hair can be time-consuming and also tiring because you could run out of styles, especially if you have short hair. The following are possible options for protective styles that would save you some time:   BRAIDS  There are different types of braids: Box braids, butterfly braids, short braids, knotless braids etc  A knotless braid is the most recent variation of braids popular among Africans for protection and for retaining hair. It is less painful due to the looseness of its hold from the roots. About two to three packs of big X-pression extensions should be enough to rock this look. A bonus is that it's very light. Trust me, you don't need heavy hair this semester. FAUX LOCS  Faux Locs are not like braids that look fresh when they are just made. The older faux locs gets the

Tips to Keep in Mind to Excel in Your Upcoming Exams  ICON Melody    It's not news to you that OAU is tough when it comes to the assessments of her students. A lot of you overwhelm yourselves when it is time for tests and examinations.   You begin to binge-read your notes and different materials, back to back, with no time to rest. This is unhealthy for you, both physically and mentally. I advise you to get rid of such habits.   Here are some tips that will help reduce the workload and guarantee you can navigate the stress of academics this semester.   1. Make your notes: These are not the notes you wrote in class. Rather, when you are reading, get a jotter or a spare note, and write down the important points you've understood from your reading. How Are You, My Friend?

How Are You, My Friend?   It's been a while, dear friend. Don't mind me, I've been running to & fro the earth: seeking for what to devour & drink to dead my cravings: to be at peace with the world & myself. I've missed you. Have you missed me too? This distance clouded your face the last time we chatted. I've been like that winged animal with a striped body of yellow & black, But my mind has been on you. My thoughts have stayed on you. So I've put you in my prayers punctured with prayers. If that false feeling had feasted on your soul that I've forsaken you, I've not for once. Forgive me for that line that I've drawn on the ground of our friendship. The thorns that have crept into my skin on my way to you are still inside my flesh. I wish to erase that line with a flick of my fingers reaching out to you, squeezing your fingers. I do not think for once that you should reach out to me first, Because all those times you'

10 Habits of OAU students  Omolayo Olufayo   (1) Anxiety   Even before the beginning of a semester, an average O.A.U student is anxious about many things like the courses, the lecturers, juggling a social life, extracurricular activities and academics etc. Assignments also create anxiety in some. The approach of some to a course is evidence of a pre-existing fear of failure that eventually looms over their success. (2) Senior colleague's information about courses   Oftentimes, some information is passed on from older colleagues to younger ones about some courses. A large number of the courses are tagged "difficult". These perspectives are usually subjective to the speaker's experiences.  Only in a few cases, do older colleagues say something positive about a course. (3) Waiting for bus drivers to open the doors before they alight:  Unlike other bus drivers in Osun state or Nigeria at large, OAU bus drivers have cultivated the habit of opening the doors to

These things happen everytime on OAU campus

Why not OAU? (A NUMBERED RANT SESSION) 😹  Aminat Abayomi  1. OAU is perceived as such a great school, that from an outsider's view, studying at OAU is great. Just mentioning to people that you studied here would make them look at you like you won the lottery. 2. There is the running up and down just to get early to class, and cases where people have problems in their first year (except you know what you are doing). Also, adjusting to a new environment can be frustrating. Aspirants always think it is probably just like their previous school (Secondary School).  3. There is also the issue of having a friend who does not have the same focus as you do. Faith Vs Fear

Faith In Place Of Fear OWOEYE TAIWO BISOLA (DECHOSEN1) Joshua 1:6; be strong and be of good courage... When it comes to that beast without a soul: buzzing inside of you. Paralyzing your hands from cutting off these cuffs on you. Be strong and be of good courage. Fear not, the WORD written 365 times, It's a mirage of a pool of water in the middle of a road but when you stretch your feet striving to keep them inside it vanishes. For home care, cleaning services and more, call: 09063453072 But it can pluck out your heart with nails sharpened with the devil’s razor. In place of FEAR, FAITH should raise with identical figures & initial letters spelling a force both good & bad. Four Possible Reasons You Have Issues With Your Siblings

Image
SIBLINGS RIVALRY!!!  Adebayo Tomi   According to Wikipedia, The term "sibling rivalry" refers to competition or hostility between siblings, whether or not they are connected by blood.   It is an intense competition among siblings for recognition and the attention of their parents. In many Nigerian homes, there are siblings who seldom ever interact with one another.  It begins when parents try to mediate sibling disputes and start to support their preferred child. The eldest is therefore often told to yield to the younger children, thereby pushing them to the side. Four main causes of sibling rivalry.  1. ATTENTION When one sibling receives more recognition and attention from parents than the other, a problem arises.  2. CULTURE Members of one gender may feel excluded if a certain cultural practice appears to disrespect them, and they may vent their hatred toward siblings who appear to be favoured.    3. JEALOUSY Even while some friendly rivalry is good for you, j
