Stretch marks are indented streaks that appear on the abdomen, breasts, hips, buttocks, or other places on the body. They appear when our skin stretches or shrinks quickly, and yes, anyone can develop them, men and women alike. There are different colors of stretch marks. There's red, yellow, and black (this type has a thicker texture). The difference between the different colors is that some take a longer time to fade than others.
Stretch marks don't have any adverse effects. It just affects many people's self-esteem.
They aren't painful or harmful, but some people don't like the way they make their skin look.
Stretch marks can be caused by quite a number of things, and they are hereditary too. Stretch marks that go along with pregnancy can be hereditary. If your mom or sister has it, then you most likely will, too.
Although the major cause of stretch marks is the stretching or shrinking of the skin whenever you lose or gain weight quickly, there are other causes too.

Cortisol is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands. It weakens elastic fibers in the skin.

Do stretch marks fade or disappear?
Stretch marks may fade over a long period of time. It doesn't disappear at once. Stretch marks for some people never completely fade, although the appearance of the marks will noticeably fade. If you want your stretch marks to fade faster, some creams and treatments can do that for you. Although it is not advisable to use just any over-the-counter cream, oil, or lotion recommended by friends or other people around you.
Some of these things can worsen the condition of your stretch marks. Instead, get an appropriate recommendation from a skincare or beauty consultant.
You might have been told that your stretch marks can never fade, but that's not true. It can fade over time.
