Life without competition

Image
By Afolabi Rachael Life is not only about fashion, wearing fancy clothes and shoes; it is also about how or what you designed your life with. New designs are developed everyday. You used a particular one and you are already tired of it within a little time. When you design your life, then you can become the CEO of your life and then dictate your wants. You don't have to procrastinate, or wait for anyone to design your life for you, because if you don't design your life, you may become outdated or loose your value. It is just like "if you don't decide what is best for you, someone else will decide for you" So, why don't you take charge of your life? Those who inform you about new products will be the ones telling you when those products are not "in place." Instead of evaluating yourself based on what people say, why don't you focus on yourself? Because, if you focus too much on what people say about you, you will not listen to your mi

By Omotosho Wumi The vice chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede in a meeting with editors of news agencies on oau campus under the aegis of Association of campus journalist,ACJOAU led by Oludiran Olusola who is the president. The vice chancellor made it clear that OAU is a place where cultism can never thrive. Moreover, he also made it clear that security protocol is something that can never be revealed to public. Recall that a certain message titled "To the prawns and suirells of Obafemi Awolowo University" was circulated early in the month of May 2019 where certain cult group threatened to strike OAU campus on June 1. However, the VC made it clear that concerning June 1 threat, within the past few days, many cult members have been arrested who are not students of Obafemi Awolowo University, not from Osun State and have been confessing. On a final note, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, beseeched everyone to put their mind a

ABOUT SCHOOL

Image
By Kehinde Babajide “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid” – Albert Einstein. Looking at it critically, every student is equivalent to the fish, swimming upstream in class, never finding their gifts thinking they are stupid, believing they are useless. Our world is fast-changing and we have students who go to school and see it as a temporary cage. The school trains students to work in factories which explains why they put students in straight rows. What we have in schools today is a common core. For example, if a doctor prescribe the same medication for all his patients, they will all die, the same thing is applicable to the classroom where we have students with different needs, different gifts, different dreams and a teacher teaches them the same way, it is tragic! If it is possible I would sue “school” because it kills creativity, individuality, and for being intelle

Woman Claims Legal Ownership of the Sun

By ADEKUNLE T. FEMI     A Spanish woman,Maria Angeles Duran, aged 49, from Vigo in Spain's northwestern region of Galatia, claims she legally owns the Sun, and charges people for the use of the celestial body. Angeles claims that the sun now officially belongs to her because she has registered the celestial body in her name at a local notary office. This might sound so absurd, but she has already started billing people for the use of the sun.    Angeles said, "I know the law, I backed my claim legally, I am not stupid, I know the law, I did it, but anyone else could have done it. It simply occurred to me first."    Ms Angeles won the right to take ebay to court after it blocked her account because she has been selling plots of land on the sun. According to her, her sun-selling idea was inspired by a man who registered the moon and many of the planets in the solar system under his name in September 2010. She apparently received 600 orders of sun €200.    The document is

Edo police to perform ritual after arresting the forbidden Chief Priest of Bini kingdom.

By: Omogiate Prosper It's a tradition in "bini" that prior to when an Oba mounts the ancestral throne, during the coronation rites,he must have a symbolic wrestle with the Ohen N' Ukoni and thereafter the Ohen N' Ukoni is to depart the bini kingdom never to appear again.            This tradition was set up by the first and paramount ruler of the ancient bini kingdom,Oba Ewuare I.          On the 28th of April,  Men of the Nigeria police force stormed Uhumwode community and arrested the Chief Priest otherwise known as Ohen N' Ukoni and transported him to benin city only to lock him up for no obvious reason. Residents of the community however pleaded with the police officers not to indulge in such  act but those fell on deaf ears.     Upon arriving at Benin City, the cloud suddenly turned dark and dropped down waters in a mighty manner accompanied with heavy thunders. The Oba who discerned that the land has been defiled quickly sent emissaries to see what w

SUCCESS

By: Omogiate Prosper Great people, they don't CRY They TRY to rebuild their dreams. Great people don't GIVE UP, They LIVE UP to the challenge that life throws at them. Great people don't GO through, They GROW through the difficulties that come on their path. They start all over again with great hope, with great determination, with great grit and that is why they reach the highest peaks of success that most people only aspire for that is why I say: NO CHALLENGES, NO SUCCESS AND KNOW CHALLENGES, KNOW SUCCESS.

Opinion: THE OBSOLETE IN THE CONTEMPORARY*

By Kehinde Babajide _“Education is not a preparation for life; education is life itself”_ –JOHN DEWEY Learning is supposed to be  ritual-like for all humans, this is a situation where education comes in as a means of raising informed and intellectual minds. But, but and but, it has gotten to a stage whereby learning has become outdated or let me say expired. My focus is on the Nigeria education system. People in Nigeria are getting an expired education. That is why you see people who studied engineering and are not able to do engineering feat. You see people who studied computer science and are not able to understand anything or diagnose computer language. This is because Nigeria’s education system is a dilapidated one. The education system in Nigeria has been able to lobotomize so many people, the culture of using ancient materials to raise the present generation is not ideal. The formal and informal education in Nigeria are outdated. Scientific theories that were formulated and

Opinion: HYPOCRISY

By Kehinde Babajide _“Better to illuminate than merely to shine to deliver to others contemplated truth than merely to contemplate.”_– Thomas Aquinas Engaging in the same behaviour or activity for which one criticizes another. Hypocrisy can be described as dissimulation, pretence, or a sham. Hypocrisy is predominant part of our present day society as well as societies of the  past. It’s a kind of lie. Hypocrisy scares people, but no matter how hard you try to not be one, you are. To hate hypocrites is to hate yourself, and you are weak. By existing on earth we are subject to our own hypocrisy. Adults always teach the youth the right and the wrong. But when it comes to them to take decisions then they often choose the wrong one claiming it is best for all of us. In some ways we, youngsters are also hypocrites as we often tell lies to our parents to avoid getting grounded. For example we often lie to our parents about secret boyfriends, bad marks in assessments. People especially y

BEAM

By: Ande Joy When moon and star meet to shine focusing on me like they're mine I long to touch their light remembering I have no flight Beneath the sunless sky, basking in the rays of the stars despite being so high, still shinning without bars Drenched in hopeful gleam, streaming from the moonlit sky drowning the darkness of the night and the fear in my heart I long to touch the light, to feel it flow all over my soul and give me hope that my tomorrow and the night thereafter would be bright.

PATIENCE

By: Orodunsi Omolara There was no love lost between Seun and Debby. They have been roommates for the past year in a 3 bedroom apartment. Circumstances brought them together, they wouldn't be be living together under normal condition. Debby was the original occupant of the room but she had to get someone when she was urgently in need of cash and, Seun, who was desperately in search of a room jumped at the offer. Debby was a very cool and calm person, so soft-spoken and nice. Seun was the complete opposite of Debby, she was loud, aggressive and gaudy. Debby knew she was in for trouble the instant Seun moved in. Seun was always complaining of one thing or the other and accused Debby of everything, even when she was the careless one. The slightest thing irritated Seun and she took it out on Debby. One day,Seun started her yelling  as usual, but on that very day, Debby was in a very bad mood. She got a call from home that her dad was in a hospital but Seun continued her act not notic

A PASSIONATE NIGHT

By: Olusanya Anuoluwapo Adeola.      Clara was shocked to discover that there was a mistake with the hotel bookings she had called earlier to make for herself and Mr Desmond Williams, her billionaire hot boss. They had both come for a conference in Abuja and had the intention to pass the night before taking the next flight to Lagos early in the morning. Clara was still trying to put her thoughts together when Desmond walked up to her and the receptionist. "Clara, is everything okay here?" He drawled behind her with that sexy voice that has  made most girls weep in their secret parts. "I..I think there is a problem with the reservations I made" Clara stammered hating to admit she had made a mistake, the receptionist cut in with her high voice ringing clearly to impress Desmond. "There is only one room available tonight Mr Williams." "We will share." Clara's thought scattered in different directions, and she raised her head up to look at

LOST FRIENDSHIP

By: Alofe Faith Thinking about how we met. Keeps joy in my heart. How our friendship was a dear one. Longing to talk to you gave me joy.    Along the line, you fell in love with me. But i couldn't reciprocate your love. Thinking about  that made sad too. There in, there out we continued our friendship. But you couldn't stop loving me.    Now, for you to stop loving me we had to stop talking.    Oh! that was the height of it all.    Not talking to you made me grief.   Missing you was one thing i couldn't stop doing.   Oh! I wish we can go back to those days of happiness   Those days where we can't help but stop talking.    Those days of pouring out our hearts to one another.    Days of walking together    Days of seeing you smile    Oh! What can i do to see you smile again     Oh! When will we go back to those days of holding hands     Oh! oh!     What a friend you were                                                         To you

You trained me to be spiritual. You trained me to be studious. Words can't describe what you've done for me. Words are not enough to qualify them. Words can't quantity them. Words can't thank you enough. I love you for who you are. I love you for training me. I love you for being by my side always. I miss you a lot. I can't wait to see you. I can't wait to go pray together. To you dear friend, you will always be in my heart.

Image
By Omole Daniel Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the candidate of opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in last year’s governorship election in Osun, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is unfit to govern the state. The party, in a statement issued by its spokesman, Kunle Oyatomi, said the scandals surrounding Adeleke’s personality and qualifications were embarrassing, which informed the reasons why some PDP members approached the court for clarity over his eligibility to hold such public office. The APC said, “Adeleke’s personality is problematic and embarrassingly scandalous in regard to his educational qualifications. The APC castigated the PDP for failing to take responsibility for the baggage it invited to their party because it was desperate to win election.

Reasons why Barcelona president rejects the idea of signing Antoine Griezman.

Image
By Olarewaju Ruth Happiness Football pundit Josep Maria Minguella, who ran for the Barcelona presidency in 2003, has questioned Antoine Griezmann's behaviour ahead of his possible move to the Camp Nou. Griezmann announced that he was  leaving Atletico Madrid just a year after turning Barcelona down on a documentary. "I wouldn't sign Griezmann for two reasons," Minguella said. "Firstly, he has teased his club, agreed to move to Barcelona and, when the moment to sign arrives, he backtracks, shoots a video and leaves the [Barcelona] president and whoever was involved in agreeing the deal with egg on their faces. "Then he returns to his original club and puts pressure on Atletico to improve his contract significantly. It is a great prejudice, not only for the [contract] increase, but for his teammates. After not shining in the past season there, he's now said that he's leaving and making use of the [release] clause. "Then h

How to Flush Kidney Stones Naturally With Just Four Ingredients

By Ogungbemi Odunayo What are kidney stones? Kidney stones are a solid, crystal-like mineral material that forms within the kidney or urinary tract. Kidney stones are relatively uncommon – occurring in just one of every 20 people worldwide. Kidney stones form when there is a decrease in the amount of urine produced and/or an excess of stone-forming substances in the urine. Relating to the former, dehydration is one of the leading causes of kidney stones. Kidney stones are notoriously painful. When the stone moves around the ureter – the tube that connects the kidney and bladder – severe pain is often felt in the side and back, below the rib cage. The pain may then radiate to the lower abdomen and groin. Nearly every kidney stone is passed from the kidney through the ureter and bladder through the urethra. Consuming plenty of fluids facilitates the passage of kidney stones, though most people find it necessary to take some type of prescription medication for pain control. Other s

HARDWORK PAYS

By: Adebayo Joshua (Josh Flames) As time flies and day cease, As the oceans are been swept away, So also we must be at alert. To the unfading love that we enjoy. To the unfathomable love we see, Be diligent and earnest in everything. For time wait for no man, As the rising of the sun, To the going down of the moon. Work so as to achieve in life, For we are like dust on the earth, To which we will soon be judged.
