Tips to Keep in Mind to Excel in Your Upcoming Exams

Tips to Keep in Mind to Excel in Your Upcoming Exams

It's not news to you that OAU is tough when it comes to the assessments of her students. A lot of you overwhelm yourselves when it is time for tests and examinations.

You begin to binge-read your notes and different materials, back to back, with no time to rest. This is unhealthy for you, both physically and mentally. I advise you to get rid of such habits.

Here are some tips that will help reduce the workload and guarantee you can navigate the stress of academics this semester.

1. Make your notes:
These are not the notes you wrote in class. Rather, when you are reading, get a jotter or a spare note, and write down the important points you've understood from your reading. This would be helpful as a reference point when you want to quickly revise.

2. Space your reading as follows:
If you have two to three tests or exams coming up within a week, avoid trying to read all these courses within a day. Space your reading time, study the important parts you don't understand, and make notes.

3. Don't cram:
Some people are better than others when it comes to cramming. However, don't do that. Your lecturers want to see your understanding of what they taught you. Avoid copying and pasting your lecturer's notes. You don't need to write a lot; however, if you understand the topics and can explain them in your own words, it will be easier to answer the questions if you can't remember what you wrote in your notes.

4. Read with friends and solve questions.
Meet up with your friends and share perspectives. This can help you since your friends will express their understanding in a language you can better understand. Together, you both reinforce your study points. Moreso, solving past questions would help give you a feel of what to expect in tests and exams.

5. Beware of Your Lecturers:
You might do all the above and still not do well. That's why you need to know what your lecturers require when you answer their questions. Some of them are peculiar and want to see specific words, phrases, or technical terms in your works.

This semester is tightly compressed, and I'm sure you're going to feel the heat. Model your study time after the above tips and watch your learning change. success in your efforts.
