TOP FIVE OAU FEMALE STUDENTS' HAIRSTYLES YOU NEED TO TRY THIS SEMESTER

TOP FIVE OAU FEMALE STUDENTS' HAIRSTYLES YOU NEED TO TRY THIS SEMESTER

Omolayo Olufayo

The semester has been the most rigorous so far and having to pack and unpack hair can be time-consuming and also tiring because you could run out of styles, especially if you have short hair. The following are possible options for protective styles that would save you some time:

 BRAIDS

There are different types of braids: Box braids, butterfly braids, short braids, knotless braids etc
A knotless braid is the most recent variation of braids popular among Africans for protection and for retaining hair. It is less painful due to the looseness of its hold from the roots. About two to three packs of big X-pression extensions should be enough to rock this look. A bonus is that it's very light. Trust me, you don't need heavy hair this semester.

FAUX LOCS

Faux Locs are not like braids that look fresh when they are just made. The older faux locs gets the prettier it becomes. They require an easy maintenance routine. They can also be rewashed for continuous usage, unlike attachments.

CROCHET

They are in the same category as faux locs though not completely similar. They are usually installed on corn rows. There are easy DIY videos on YouTube where installation has been made easy for even beginners. This is one protective style that can grow your hair.

NATURAL HAIR TWISTS

People with natural hair or even unrelaxed hair usually enjoy this protective style. It is cost friendly because all the materials are all on your head, although some people like to add some Afro Extensions

CORNROWS

Alicia Keyz rocked this hairstyle to express Afrocentrism. It is a low-maintenance style that is durable for a particular period, especially the exam period. With the adequate laying of edges, It brightens up.

WIGS

A large percentage of OAU students have at least one wig that covers up the (hideous) hair underneath. Some wigs have been through hell in the hands of their elder sisters and passed on to them(lol). Some even go to extent of borrowing wigs. It's very durable and easy to maintain especially if it's not a full frontal wig. You don't have that time to install a full frontal wig so a 4×4 or 6×6 will be just okay.

LOW CUT

This takes the hair off your list of worries. It's cost-free after the first cut and doesn't require further styling. It's easy peasy because wigs can be worn on them when you feel bored with the same look. A bonus to this look is the improvisation of appearance.

Looks are the least you should be worried about this semester, hence the above list. Beyond this, the most important thing is confidence.
Rock that university look with pride!
Good luck with the upcoming exams.
