FASA ELECTION CANCELLED

      The Facaulty of Arts Students Association's election on Thursday December 20th, 2018 was nullified.       The election which started some minutes after 12pm at AUD 2 and Linguistics Foyer respectively  was allegedly cancelled because list of FASA financial members was influenced.        Toluano, a presidential aspirant from the department of philosophy, made it clear that the cancellation of election is a good idea. He said: “The cancellation is an act of restoring sanity, by restoring sanity, I mean letting everything to be in order. According to the constitution of FASA, it states that executive council election shall hold at AUD but we were suprised when the electoral committee,which is independent of anybody said that there will be a polling unit at another place. NUASA FYB WEEK

By Olaleye olusola National University Accounting Students Association, OAU chapter on 14th December, 2018 started her FYB week. According to Ibitokun Adebisi (Pka) Honorable Bisi who is also the part 4 class rep, the week started on Friday 14th with novelty match at the sport complex, followed by mountaineering on Saturday 15, corporate day on Monday, Denim day on Tuesday, custome day today where they put on all sort of dresses. The FYB week will end on Friday 21 December with traditional day. The President,  Ishola Hammed, showed his gratitude to God who has being with them since inception. The students in general were happy as they displayed various types of customes.

OAU:SSANU embarks on warning strike

By Omotosho Omowumi Adetunji, Ojo Benjamin, Omole Daniel The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities OAU chapter has on Tuesday December 18, 2018 embarked on a warning strike to show their greviances to the federal government of Nigeria about the agreement between them since 2009. According to a member of the association who pleaded anonymity because he is not in the right position to address the press. He made it clear that the strike is just a warning to the government in order to remind them of their 2009 agreement on allocation of 8 billion naira for earned allowance and the warning strike will last for 3 days. Recall that while election is fast approaching, Academic staff Union of Universities (ASUU) which is in charge of academic activities in Nigerian university is also on strike.

OAU students says no to sudden inflation of transport fare

By Akinade Israel As it is well known that Obafemi Awolowo University 43rd annual convocation commence  today, 12th of December, 2018. The students of the University who reside in town declined to pay the inflated money by the bus drivers. It all happened in Mayfair when the  bus drivers of the popular "tan gboro" buses demanded #100 from the students instead of the normal and agreed #50 as payment for transportating them from town to OAU's campus. The drivers claimed that there is traffic jam on campus due to the convocation. In that case, they all agreed to inflate transportation prices till the end of the convocation. The students in their ever articulate fashion showed rights by not boarding any bus for #100 but #50. One of the students exclaimed and urged all the students not to pay such price. OAU: Department of English to reopen library

By Omotosho Wumi The departmental library of the department  of English, Obafemi  Awolowo University which has been shut down for a very long time  is set to be reopened anytime soon as work is going on to put things in order in library. According to the librarian of National Association of Students of English and literary studies, Oseni Toheeb. He made it clear that the library was shut down two sessions ago due to mismanagement from students. When asked when the library will be reopened, he declared that after proper arrangement,  the library would be open. On the size of the library for students of the department of English, he made it clear that truly the library is small for department of English students but he would make sure he create 50 reading spaces in the library and the library has free wifi. He therefore beseech all students of English and literary  studies  to make good use of the library  when the library is finally available.

MSSN OAU JIHAD WEEK

Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile–Ife, started its Jihad week on 29th November, 2018 which will end on 7th December, 2018. With the theme: ISLAMIC SCHOLARSHIP AND SOCIAL MOVEMENT. The program is held annually for Muslim students to propagate Islam. In a press conference, the President of MSSN,  Kamorudeen Sodiq while speaking on Jihad said: “Jihad is an arabic language which means “striving” but in Sharia, it means Striving in the course of Allah. Jihad is the proper propagation of Islam– total submission to the ways of Allah.” He also stated the aims of the program; to enhance the reading culture amongst muslim students and also preach the word to others. The Jihad week is a program of the MSSN nationally and internationally. The Chairman, Planning Committee, Amoo Ibrahim while speaking to newsmen gave an analysis of the program which would involve a football match, Debate, quiz competition, evangelism, orphanage visitation, lectures, and so on.
