Awolowo Hall gate became a stop, search and examine situation, when students were not allowed in without showing their I.D card at the point of entry. Visitors were also denied entry into the hall of residence even during the visitation time which is usually 4:00pm.
As at the time of compiling this report at about 2:00am, students were denied access to their rooms, even the ones with I.D card, they were locked out saying the school management has ordered a lockdown of all hostels from 10pm.
Students who were coming back from their places of reading were caught unaware with the change of situation, they got to the gate tired and worn out.
Students were seen expressing their grievance saying they should have pasted a notice before now and informed the general residents of the hall about the new development instead of causing them discomfort.
A Part 3 student of Computer Engineering who went out to prepare for a test which is slated for today was heard expressing bitterly how his sleep is being cut short due to the action taken by the management and hall warden.
An unidentified person behind the gate came to address the angered students saying "the school management got a security alert about an impending cultist attack, which brought about the swift order for the gate to be locked by 10pm."
"The action is meant for the safety of the students," he further stated. The gate was later opened by the porter about past 2am after much pleading from students, and the students who provided a means of identification of the hall were granted access into the hall of residence.
