Woman Claims Legal Ownership of the Sun
By ADEKUNLE T. FEMI
A Spanish woman,Maria Angeles Duran, aged 49, from Vigo in Spain's northwestern region of Galatia, claims she legally owns the Sun, and charges people for the use of the celestial body. Angeles claims that the sun now officially belongs to her because she has registered the celestial body in her name at a local notary office. This might sound so absurd, but she has already started billing people for the use of the sun.
Angeles said, "I know the law, I backed my claim legally, I am not stupid, I know the law, I did it, but anyone else could have done it. It simply occurred to me first."
Ms Angeles won the right to take ebay to court after it blocked her account because she has been selling plots of land on the sun. According to her, her sun-selling idea was inspired by a man who registered the moon and many of the planets in the solar system under his name in September 2010. She apparently received 600 orders of sun €200.
The document issued by the notary office declares Ms Duran to be the owner of the sun, a star spectral type G2, located in center of the solar system, located at an average distance from Earth of about 149,600,000 kilometers.
