HOW TO SLAY CHELSEA BOOTS.

Image
Agoro Ololade According to Wikipedia, Chelsea boots are close-fitting, ankle-high boots with an elastic side panel. They often have a loop or tab of fabric on the back of the boot, enabling the boot to be pulled on. The boot dates back to the Victorian era, when it was worn by both men and women. These boots, designed by J. Sparkes Hall, one of Queen Victoria's bootmakers, were designed originally for walking and horse riding. What makes Chelsea boots stand out from regular ankle boots is their elastic side panel. These boots are versatile i.e they can be worn many ways. Chelsea boots are timeless fashion mostly because they can be worn with formal and casual outfits. When paired with jeans, they go better with cuffed jeans with a distressed hem that meets the top of the boots or slightly cropped jeans. Men can rock Chelsea boots either casually in jeans, or formally in a suit. It should be noted that when Chelsea boots are in worn with trousers, you do not tuck in the ends into ...

IT'S ME.

Image
It's me when ... Feeling immaculate as the unsullied, Like no one is articulate and more solid, Gloating like I'm floating, Imitating the strong Falcon, As though the nails were talons, Visioning my accomplishments, Like it's  time for merriments,  And acting wild, whereas born tamed. As if life's a game. Time and Tide, Not by my side, But i'll mull, wonder and ponder,  For what's right. I could : Pace and fail,  Space and wail. Till it's sulky and weary but  Facing the phase. It's not fake. Tranquility!! I crave,  Nowhere is save, Roaming rumors, I hear thou roaring that  to lead me bawling. They're repulsive, But I'm constructive. In all holy glory , I'll tell my story, Because it's me.              ©K_mhie

Daylight Murder

Image
The first thing that greeted Jane as she pushed the door open was the strong whiff of blood. Its metallic smell drifted softly past her nose. It smelt fresh. Jane stood transfixed at the door for a moment, before her eyes suddenly widened and her hands balled into fists. "No! No! No!", she chanted as she followed the smell and raced for the bathroom. Hurried thoughts rushed through her brain, "My babies! No, No! Which one of them did he kill this time?!" She got to the bathroom, pushed the brown wooden door wide open and the shock that hit her was enough to send her crumbling to the ground. "Not my baby! No, not Daisy!" She screamed and reached out for the bathtub, crawling towards it. "That murderer! How could he? This is no mistake! Two murders in four weeks? Definitely not an accident!" She said, amidst loud sobs. She paused and took a careful look into the tub again, what she saw broke her. Mangled wrists, torn flesh, bashed in brain...the ...

Finding ‘the One’: A counterintuitive approach to love and life

Image
Mofeoluwa Ade-Olufadeju So, you're actively searching for that one person who ‘completes’ you? You’re desperate to find that special someone you're to spend forever with? Or you’re already with an amazing person but you keep asking yourself if they’re ‘the One’?  Please, stop! I’m going to be redefining the process of finding love. It won’t reflect popular opinion but, it’s what you and a lot of people out there need to know. Brace yourself and read on.  In trying to find ‘the One’, you will not need to step outside your comfort zone. You've probably been lectured on how you need to move around and change your environment with the hope of bumping into true love on your wanderings. I’m not saying that’s completely ridiculous but, just think about this: A bibliophile has higher chances finding a compatible mate in a library than in a club. The same way a party animal will most likely find a compatible mate at a party than in a knitting class. If you’re going to be comfort...

SHE

Image
"I'm alone" She held me close as her story escaped her lips.  She spoke like her pain was a gift, She held me like a blessing, She said "you're my world." I could not understand the miracle she spoke of.  She spoke softly in phrases yet her strength showed in her actions. I grew older, I saw her grow weaker. She never told her story but I always felt sorry,  Not at her state but sorry because time was a great surgeon at etching the webs of time on her bosom, my bosom of life. She called and pulled me close, I melted in her embrace, she was cold but I felt warm. Home was always in her arms. "My story is not one for pity" she had said as She told me her story. Frames moving in her mind.  I didn't have to guess, her tale tells itself on skin.  She spoke of times I couldn't comprehend. She painted images with words and I was pulled into her time. I can't help but wonder who she would have been without me. She said, "I prayed and work...

Why Should I Marry You

Image
Agoro Ololade I feel like a corpse. Rotting and filthy, My skin is flayed and broken And my nails have fallen out. My hair is tangled and damp With the blood and sweat of our tussle My neck is bruised in zigzag patterns From all the strangling and bondage. Where my nipple used to be,  Is a mass of distorted flesh Where you shoddily carved it out with a knife, The day I tried to warn the neighbors about you. My voice is the wail of a ghost: Unearthly and dry From the days I'd cried so hard  In pain, begging for mercy from you. My soles are naked and broken From those times you'd forced me to walk On broken bottle and nails (Then there was the day of the hot plate). My palms are scraped and raw Evidence of the days you iron them  Then whip them afterwards, Leaving me unconscious with pain. My eyes are red and swollen Permanently leaking blood And where my pretty lips used to be Is unrecognisable flesh. When you look at them,  All you'd see is black and purple. S...

OAU building: Abandoned basement gets new occupants

Image
OAU Spider building: Abandoned basement become bats abode.    Adewale Zainab Spider is one of the oldest and most gigantic buildings in the history of Obafemi Awolowo University. It was constructed by Israel Architects and is located at the far end of the university. The structure of the building is magnificent as the pillars supporting it are formed in the shape of spider legs.    The Spider building, under the faculty of technology, was originally owned by the Civil Engineering department, but over the years, it has been shared with two other departments: the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Material Science and Engineering.   During one of my random visits to Spider, I explored the inside and outside of the building and discovered the staircase that leads to the basement of the building. While trying to go down with a phone flashlight because the place was dark, I was covered with a bad smell and, noticing the presence of bats...

SOMETIMES WE LOSE OUR SPARKLES

Image
The sun used to burn so brightly in me that the sky becomes scared of those blinding beams, I used to shine so brilliantly too with sparkles of the sun in me, sparkling orange flames in me. We all have sparkles within us, sometimes hidden, sometimes open to the world to see, You used to have it live in the depths of your soul now you've lost it to the tenacious storms at night. Sometimes we lose our sparkles even when we don't want to, we lose them to the dungeons, The dungeons dazzling with darkness beyond our power, we are powerless around the gloom. Sometimes we lose our sparkles, fiery with red flames, shimmering than the stares of the suns, Let's take back our sparkles from the arms of the sun, let's make the sun envious of our sparkly sparkles. ©DECHOSEN1 POET: OWOEYE TAIWO BISOLA

He went on to state questions arising fro...

Man rides on a camel's back from Kastina to Abuja for the APC convention.

Image
The recent APC convention, held at Eagle Square, saw the attendance of high-wire politicians as well as party faithful of the All Progressive Party. However, more remarkably, was the attention and applause given to one of the party faithful at the event.   Ibrahim Yahaya Hamisu, described by the Vanguard as an APC party faithful as well as a die-hard Buharist, attended the APC convention over a 120-hour journey on a camel's back.   Ibrahim started from his home in Kastina and covered a journey of 590km to the venue of the convention in Abuja, full of passion and a desire to contribute his quota to helping the party elect officers for a better Nigeria.   "My name is Ibrahim Yahaya Hamisu. Three ways to manage your data subscription

Image
Three ways to manage your data subscription   Have you struggled with managing your monthly subscriptions? Have you been trying your best to cut down on social media apps, but it doesn't work out? Here are three suggestive ways to accomplish this:   (1) Cut down on some apps that take more social media time. Find out how much allocated data you have each month and be sure to stay within your limit. You may want to cut down on your "Netflix and Chill" vibes. If you can't control your continuous swipe on your Instagram feed, you will eventually exceed your data limit for the day, a week, or a month. To be honest, there's always going to be a new post on I.G, Twitter, Facebook, etc. You can't get to the end of media content. Hence, discipline has to be ensured. You are probably not missing out on so much. That intermittent beep shouldn't control you.   (2) Enable the data saver. This method is achievable for Android users.
