I still don't know if there will be an election in 2023. - Pastor E.A. Adeboye

In his sermon today, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, expressed his uncertainty over the possibility of the 2023 election. He also addressed those parading him as a politician. In his words:

"I am speaking to my children. Do you want to know the truth? Nothing but the truth? I still don't know if there will be an election next year yet. "

He further elaborated, saying that 2023 is still a long time away and there are more pressing issues he is concerned with. Using Kaduna state as a case study, he said the insecurity in Kaduna state is a cause of great concern. He added that the state is slowly being isolated. Transportation by air, road, or rail is impossible without the possibility of being attacked on the way. People going in are unsafe; likewise are those trying to travel outside the state. He went on to state questions arising from the situation like, "Who is isolating the state?" and "which state is next?"

He didn't stop there. The General Overseer further stated, "more than 80% of oil is being stolen." That leads to further questions: "Who is stealing the oil?", "What do they want to do with the money?", and "Who are the foreign nations buying this oil?"

Stressing the issue of Nigeria's debt, he said, "more than 90% of our income is being used to pay Nigeria's debt and we are borrowing more." According to a friend of mine, we are moving steadily towards bankruptcy.

He concluded by saying, "So you see why somebody like me is more concerned about what is happening now."

Pastor Adeboye also stated that politics has never been his calling but urged members of his church to cast their votes and keep praying for Nigeria.
