The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has entered the presidential race. On April 19, 2022, he is to make his intention public. According to his media person, he has done a lot of consultation within and beyond the All Progressive Congress (APC) and across Nigeria before taking this bold step of contesting.

He has a history of success in Anambra, where he undertook state wide development across the academic, health and other sectors of the state.

He is popularly known among students for his unsuccessful negotiations with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), which has led to the continued strike action by the union.

With his declaration, he joins other candidates like Bola Tinubu, Yemi Osibanjo, Governor Umahi, Governor Yahaya Bello, and Rochas Okorocha, among others, for the party primary coming soon.
