Daylight Murder

The first thing that greeted Jane as she pushed the door open was the strong whiff of blood. Its metallic smell drifted softly past her nose. It smelt fresh. Jane stood transfixed at the door for a moment, before her eyes suddenly widened and her hands balled into fists. "No! No! No!", she chanted as she followed the smell and raced for the bathroom. Hurried thoughts rushed through her brain, "My babies! No, No! Which one of them did he kill this time?!"

She got to the bathroom, pushed the brown wooden door wide open and the shock that hit her was enough to send her crumbling to the ground. "Not my baby! No, not Daisy!" She screamed and reached out for the bathtub, crawling towards it.

"That murderer! How could he? This is no mistake! Two murders in four weeks? Definitely not an accident!" She said, amidst loud sobs.

She paused and took a careful look into the tub again, what she saw broke her. Mangled wrists, torn flesh, bashed in brain...the exact pattern as last time! She had had enough! This time, she saw red and she was going to make him pay.

"Jack! Jack!" Jane screamed as she made her way to the garden in fast strides. She picked up a baseball bat from the bin in the lounge on her way out.

She stopped at the foot of the small white fence, looked straight at the bent figure harvesting zucchinis and bellowed, "You evil, evil man! Do you know what you've just done? What did she ever do to you!".

Jack just looked up, gave her an irritating smirk and huffed, "Don't blame me! I just got tired of that nuisance running around my garden and spoiling all my good work."

Jane couldn't believe her ears, "You maniac! That is not an excuse to commit gruesome murder. You know how much I loved her. How... how could you do that to me?!" She launched into silent tears.

"It's just a rabbit, Jane. You'll get over it." He said and continued his digging.

At that, she lost all sense of reason, marched straight into the garden and hurled the bat at him.

Let's just hope she doesn't kill him😂😉
