IT IS A BEAUTIFUL PIT. -A CHILD'S PLIGHT-

With shouts of joy, I cried when I came out, Little did I know, Out of pain will I still shout Very fragile, I was pampered, Little did I know, A hen is fed to be killed. A sudden change, My whole life turned, And I began to know, My eyes will still bleed blood. I didn't ask for this, Why do I have it? If I had known, I would stay away from this beautiful pit. Silence! No sound at all, Is the order given, Now I know, It is better to have stayed in heaven .             Ogundeji Theophilus O.

THE KISS THAT STOPPED A SUICIDE

ADEBAYO OLUWATOMISIN E.     One of the worst things about being young is the way passing things seems somehow permanent. So when a 16-year old in Nigeria faced yet another example of fate raining all over his incredibly poor family, he decided to step out rather than suffer a life of torment and misery.    Climbing over the railing of a pedestrian bridge, he prepared to jump.At which point a passing sales girl named Janet decided to get involved. Despite having never seen the kid before, despite the girl knowing nothing of his problems, she followed him to the railing and did the only thing she could; She listened as this random 16 years old described the pit his life had fallen into, she listened as he listed the endless problems tearing his family life to bits and then she simply showed him her wrists.   As they stood there, surrounded by the Police and gawping pedestrians, Janet told him the story behind her own attempted suicide quietly, firmly and withou...

HALITOSIS AND ITS CURE

LAWANI OLUWASEMILORE O.   Bad breath, unpopularly known as halitosis can be very disturbing and could also cause low self esteem. The reason why supermarkets, stores and shops now stack up their shelves with mints, gums and other products that could help tackle bad breath is not far fetched. Treatment To handle halitosis and properly take care of your teeth, you will need to always carry out proper and good oral hygiene. Here are a few things to do to stop bad Breakthrough •Brush your teeth after meals (morning and night) •Floss at least once a day •Brush your tongue very well •clean your dentures or dental appliances. •Always stay hydrated. Opinion: The Constitution or The Revolution -which Wayforward?

Since the abduction of Omoyele Sowore, the word 'revolution' has been more popular in Nigeria, and no doubt, the word has equally resonated across the globe in weeks. But what sparks the spectre of revolution hunting the country is beyond Sowore, and it is what seems to be unclear to the Nigerian government under Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. Whether it is out of pretence or careless tyranny, I cannot answer for them. However, the misery in the land is enough to ignite the talk of revolution on the lips of even a toddler in Nigeria. It is more systemic than hinging it on, and blindly attacking Sowore's role in such a revolutionary period Nigeria is pregnant with. The tyranny exhibited under the Muhammad Buhari government consistently reminds and takes us back to military era. The rape on the country's constitution alone rings it in the ear that indeed, the revolution must cut across curing the constitution too. Contrary to constitutional procedures, Sowore was abducted by t...

WHEN I WAS RAPED

Image
ADEBAYO OLUWATOMI In higher institution, a relationship can only last a few days or weeks enough to get one through the social events of the session which in the case were the Basketball Game and the Campus turnup party. I watched the basketball match that followed the party and the formal dance with a rapis,"MY RAPIST".    He was the captain of the Wildlions, the best basketball team on campus and was regarded as having a shot at a professional career. I liked him simply because i was concerned at that time with being popular, and dating a sport captain was an automatic ticket to the crowd.    I was also uncomfortably a member of the most likely to succeed crowd and dating a star was becoming a habit for me, I was previously dating a guy in the sciences department, he was a prince of morals and never gave me attention. We left the basketball court to drive to his house and pick up some stuffs for the party. I had consumed a little bit of alcoholic drink just...

Image
Adebayo Joy    Born to two and grew to learn everything is perfect, Nurtured this idea for time and met a friend that could show me me. How perfect is the size of my green glossy eyes and   the colour of my brown skin even, How white is the set of my rectangular teeth and the arc of my full brows sharp. But "PERFECT" is imperfect Cos it either carries itself in pairs three times and neglects one   or move in threes two times and also leave one. Uneven is odd And odd is imperfect, "PERFECT" is perfect to the one that doesn't think "PERFECT" is imperfect
