Faculty Arts 2nd Alumni Lecture: “Democracy is Only Idealistic” — Sam Omatseye

            Fawaz Adedeji  The Faculty of Arts, one of the pioneer faculties in the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, on Thursday, January 29, held the second edition of its distinguished alumni lecture, which featured the cerebral homecoming of a 1985 graduate of the Department of History, who currently serves as the Chairman of the Editorial Board of The Nation Newspaper, Sam Omatseye, at Oduduwa Hall. Amongst those present in the event is the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Abiodun Oyebamiji, the Executive Governor of Osun State, represented by the State Commissioner for Education, Diipo Eluyemi, Ekiti State Secretaries, Traditional Rulers, amongst other dignitaries. OAU Students Raise Concern Over Non-functional Marker Boards

            Precious Ojo Students of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, have recently raised concerns over the useless state of the white marker boards in some of the classrooms in some faculty and departments building. “Good-for-nothing,” as fondly called by some students, implied that the white marker boards in some of the classrooms are just there without functioning appropriately as expected, due to numerous factors like permanent marker stains and fragments, which makes them unfit to use. Despite the recent renovations done in the Faculty of Administration Extension building, especially in the classrooms, the white marker boards are unfit for lectures, as a result of the different stains of permanent markers imprinted on it, making it difficult for lecturers to write on it.  Muiz Sogola, a student from the faculty of administration, expressed frustration on the board's condition, noting that lecturers could not use the board wh...
