OAU Secures Two Gold Medals in Judo at FASU Games

By Adedoyin Oguntade Ogungbe Peter Oluwadamilare, a Part 3 student of the Department of Physical and Health Education, fought Judo in the Federation of African University Sports (FASU) games and won gold in the -81kg and open weight categories. The 11th edition of the FASU games began in Lagos, Nigeria, with over 1,500 athletes from 43 African nations participating. The event started on September 21 and will conclude on September 29. UNILAG and LASU are co-hosting the games, making it the first time two universities have jointly hosted the event. Athletes from African universities compete in 17 sports such as athletics, basketball, football, and swimming. Nigeria is hosting the games for the first time in two decades, last hosting in 2004 at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University in Bauchi. Extension of Stay In Halls: Students' Union Makes Clarifications

Abdul-Hakeem Akiyode  A release issued by the Division of Student Affairs (DSA) on August 27th requested that students vacate the halls of residence by September 6th, 2024. This announcement prompted a meeting between the Students' Union and the DSA. Due to the intervention of the Students' Union, an agreement was reached with the DSA. Students engaged in SWEP, SIWES, Teaching Practice, or other mandatory departmental programs were given additional consideration. Town Gboro Drivers Stop Operations Due to Hike in Fuel Prices, Students' Union Intervenes

By Adedoyin Oguntade The Towngboro drivers and the bike riders made moves to increase the transportation fares due to the recent increase in fuel prices and its scarcity. According to information gathered from the Students' Union executives posts, an emergency meeting was held with the bike riders and they came to an agreement that the usual prices will still be in place till Monday, September 9, when the bike riders will provide a feedback.  Prices for bikes to follow are written in blue. A meeting was also held with the Towngboro drivers but it did not yield any positive result as they ended up leaving the campus. In order to convey students that were stranded on campus, the Students' Union executives made the union bus available and also stopped private cars to assist.
