Opinion: LET'S KICK START NIGERIA’s RENAISSANCE
If African China’s “_Mr. President_” is yet to be disappointed, then I wonder why someone will not wake up one day and call the whole of Africa a graveyard, seeing Nigeria as an epitome.
At times it seems to me that Nigeria as a people do not really worth Nigeria as a land. We push problems that the government are responsible for to God for solution and even burn candle over them as if we voted for God.
Majority of those that vote are illiterates who choose something different from what they want because of those _bizarre items_ they receive, which incites them to believe they are doing the right thing, and this is what led to the emergence of bad leaders. Now, those that couldn’t endure the sun are the ones raving and ranting that the government is corrupt, especially on Social Media. Which means _Illiterates elect leaders for literate,_ while the _literates follow the elections on their TV and cell phones._
I laugh in Spanish when some people say “_God appoint leaders, no matter what people do, If God doesn’t want him, he won’t be there._” But my response is “_if that is the case, then in Nigeria, illiterates are God.”
Corruption now seems to be default activities in all the tiers and organs of government: from the military to the civilian, no clear difference. Imagine the 16 billion dollars was meant to lit this country, both the money and the person behind it are yet to be found. Lives of many have been endangered due to the bad situation of electricity. I don’t expect less from a Lawyer who said “_it is really not the federal government’s problem if power supply remains poor across the nation_”. Probably he has forgotten what power supply is doing in the exclusive list. Till today, I still doubt if there is any country that has a stable electricity for two months, because, the highest I’ve ever witness in my life is 72 hours.
I find no competency in a government led by a *Rt. Major Gen.* and insecurity is still one of our major problems. *Boko haram* is still executing, and despite the killings of thousands by the herdsmen, they are yet to be declared terrorist, but the *Biafrans* that all they do is to protest and clamor for their freedom are being declared terrorist. When I think about this irony, I find it difficult to believe if we are being ruled by humans with conscience.
*Death* is now normal to our hearing. When 20 dies, we say they are not that many; when its 10, we say they are few, and when its 5, we don’t even try to think that those that are being killed are humans like us, rather, we thank God for our own life as if God loves us more than those that died.
*Free Speech* is now seen as *hate speech*. The young man that sang concerning _Kano’s present situation_ was credited with 2 years imprisonment, and we claim to be practicing democracy. I was in junior secondary school when History as a subject was scraped; I was so happy then, thinking one of my problems has been solved; I never knew that it was my treasure that was taken from me indirectly. Right in my country, a man installs _Governor_ in Lagos State like phone _applications_; so wierd, probably he is the Lagos Play Store.
*If Eedris Abdulkareem could call Nigeria “Jaga Jaga” then, what will he call her now?*
*Black gold’s arrival tarnished the glory of Ajaokuta Steel Company.*
*Delta Steel Company is nowhere to be found.*
*Nigeria Airways is now in extinction.*
*National Bank of Nigeria is gone.*
*Nigeria Rolling Mills is now defunct.*
*NITEL!!! Where are you?*
*Nigeria Wire and Cables is also gone.*
*Bank of Nigeria has been liquidated*
*Where is Nigeria Machine Tools?*
Why are you surprised that over 13 million children are on the street? The moment you see that; you should have an expectation of 5 out of them to invade you so as to take from you. Those that has a story to tell knows better. I’m a living testimony, and if you are yet to be invaded, don’t worry, it might be your turn tomorrow. I thought these _malign_ acts will help us think about the kind of leaders to choose, but its otherwise. So expect more, or in fact, much more.
Sometimes ago, Beautiful Nubia’s “_Ohun Oju Nri_” seems to be something of the past to me but when I had a rethink, I found out that it was a prophecy. Don’t you feel there is a need to have our own Renaissance in this country?
*Literates need to help the illiterates.*
*Let’s all stand and be their voice.*
This message is to awaken us from our slumber, to illuminate us on how Nigeria has made her way to the pit and how we can only make it rise with one voice.
Revolution is not a slogan, it’s an action that must be seen in you. Therefore, fight against corruption, injustice, and any form of tyranny.
Let’s make this country better.
Nigeria is really in my heart and I hope for a good one.
GOD BLESS NIGERIA.
