The Office of the Financial Secretary of the Great Ife Students’ Union, led by Dare Ogunleye (FACT), hosted the second edition of the OAU "Who Gets to Be a Millionaire" competition on Saturday, June 27 at Oduduwa Hall, Obafemi Awolowo University.

Enoch Eyiaro, a student of the Department of Accounting, emerged as the overall winner after a rigorous intellectual contest involving 29 other participants, clinching the grand prize of one million naira.

The academic competition, conceived during the tenure of former Financial Secretary, Damilare Fashina (D-Blaq), is designed to test students’ academic depth, critical thinking ability, and encourage healthy intellectual rivalry.

It draws inspiration from the popular Who Wants to Be a Millionaire format, with questions spanning current affairs, university history, and general aptitude.

The event attracted Students’ Union officials, brand representatives, and a wide cross-section of students. A total of 30 contestants participated in the main event after successfully advancing through a preliminary stage conducted earlier in the week.

Competition Structure

The competition featured two stages. In the first stage, contestants were divided into three batches of 10 participants each. From each batch, two contestants advanced to the final stage, making a total of six finalists.

Stage One

Following intense rounds of questioning, Pelumi Oyegbori and Oladipupo Abdulmujeeb emerged as winners from the first batch.

In the second batch, Akinniyi Mustapha and Afolabi Temiloluwa secured qualification after a closely contested session.

Eyiare Enoch and Muyiwa Eniola advanced from the third batch to complete the lineup for the final stage.

Final Stage

The final round featured six contestants: Oyegbori Pelumi; Oladipupo Abdulmujeeb (Medicine and Surgery); Muyiwa Eniola (Medicine and Surgery); Akinniyi Mustapha (Accounting); Afolabi Temiloluwa (Computer Engineering); and Enoch Eyiaro (Accounting).

The stage was marked by palpable tension as contestants engaged in a high-stakes intellectual contest, with supporters cheering from the audience.

At the end of the round, the digital scoreboard revealed Enoch Eyiaro as the contestant with the highest score. Pelumi Oyegbori finished as the first runner-up, while Muyiwa Eniola emerged as the second runner-up.

The announcement was met with loud cheers and celebration as attendees applauded the champion of the 2026 edition of OAU Who Gets to Be a Millionaire.
