Hall of Legacy: Fajuyi Sets New Standards in Campus Development

In a bid to accelerate development and improve student welfare, Fajuyi Hall has witnessed the construction and renovation of key facilities, including upgraded water infrastructure and the refurbishment of its entrance signage, reinforcing its identity as the “Hall of Legacy.”
For years, inadequate water supply remained a persistent challenge for residents of the hall, with no functional wells as alternative sources.
However, this situation has improved following recent renovations by the current Unicus Circus Administration (2024/2025), which restored the water system and refurbished the signage board initially constructed by the Resourceful Hands Administration (2009/2010).
Speaking on the development, the Hall Chairman, Opeyemi Awoniyi, revealed that beyond the recent water and signage projects, several other improvements have been carried out since the inception of the current administration. He emphasized that “majorly, everything has been as a result of our commitment to the improvement and development of Fajuyi Hall since we assumed office.”
In addition, he explained that the presence of only one borehole in the hall is due to its geographical constraints, which make drilling difficult. According to him, the only feasible locations for a borehole are behind Block 3 or the Annexe, although it is difficult to move trucks to those areas.
Furthermore, the Chairperson attributed the inconsistency in water supply to the reliance on dam water, noting that challenges often arise during its supply process. He added that the hall currently has only one borehole, which affects steady distribution. Addressing concerns over coloured water, he noted that it is a common challenge in halls of residence, adding that the hall executives are working to ensure the supply of clean water for residents. He also recalled that efforts to improve the water supply date back to the previous session, which led the administration to adopt dam water as an alternative source.
Similarly, another resident, Benedict Adeoye, commended the initiative, noting that the new signage has restored the hall’s identity and visibility. He also described the water project as a significant improvement, particularly for residents of Blocks 1, 2, 4, and 5, who previously had to travel long distances to fetch water, although he added that the system is yet to become fully operational.
In the same vein, an anonymous resident also praised the developments, describing them as commendable efforts by the current administration.
Additionally, the Chairperson revealed that the television set for the upper buttery viewing centre has been acquired through consistent outreach efforts, adding that the administration is now looking forward to renovating the viewing centre to enhance student experience.
