The MDCAN Strike Must End Now - Great Ife Students' Union

By Deborah Adeyemi The Great Ife Students' Union, in a release on Sunday, March 23, has demanded an end to the strike led by the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) as the strike action  has been affecting medical and dental students. For over two months, the education and academic progress of the Medical and Dental Students have been put on hold because of the unresolved conflicts over the Consolidated Medical Salary Scale (CONMESS) and university governance policies. Exposed Hazards: Missing Gutter Slabs In Front of The Department of English Pose Safety Risks

By Oluwatoyin Yakubu  The degradation of some structures on campus over time has caused serious safety issues for the student body. In recent times, several holes caused by openings or faulty slabs have endangered the safety of students on campus. This incident occurred at the English Language department, where a major part of the student population passes through every day. The slabs that are supposed to cover the gutter have fallen into the gutter, creating a hole almost 5 feet deep. This is a dangerous occurrence considering the department's passage does not have any proper lighting at night. Former Great Ife Lord Chancellor Bags Award in Law School

By David Ogunlade In what seems to be a turn around, Abiodun Samuel Adesanya, former Lord Chancellor of the Great Ife Students' Union bagged an Award of Meritorious Service at the Nigerian Law School.  Popularly called Lincoln, Abiodun served as the Chairman of the Judicial Council (Lord Chancellor) of the apex body of over 30,000 students at Obafemi Awolowo University from November 2023 to May 2024. He had earlier served a 3-term tenure as a parliamentarian on the Law Students' Representative Council, Faculty of Law, before his elevation to the Bench. His six month reign was marked with strong adherence to the principle of judicial independence, equity, fairness and justice.
