GRADING SYSTEM: A CALL FOR REVIEW In recent times, the state of grading students by lecturers has come under scrutiny, raising concerns among students about the fairness and accuracy of the process. Many students are expressing their dissatisfaction with the way they are being graded, feeling that their efforts and performance are not properly reflected in their results. During the recent release of Harmattan semester results, a wave of discontent swept through the student body. We had the opportunity to speak with several 100-level students who had checked their grades, and the general sentiment was one of frustration and a sense of wasted efforts. One student voiced their disappointment, saying, "I put in a lot of effort in preparing for the exams and completing assignments, but it seems like it wasn't taken into account." Should Private Universities Be Funded By TETfund?

The creation of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETfund) by the federal government was a crucial step in addressing the decline of educational infrastructure in Nigerian universities. TETfund's mandate is to manage, distribute, and monitor education tax funds for public tertiary institutions in the country. It aims to provide much-needed financial support in various areas, including intervention programs and staff training and development. However, a recent outcry from Vice Chancellors of private universities has shed light on an important issue: the exclusion of private institutions from TETfund. As private sector involvement in university education has increased, there has been a decline in the quality of public university education. Fire Outbreak at Moremi Hall of Residence

  At around 9:30pm this Saturday evening, a fire broke out at the buttery on the first floor of Block F, Moremi hall of residence. An eyewitness, who identified herself as Sophie said that the cause of the fire was a blender that was left on, by a yet to be identified woman. The incident happened at  the buttery located at Block F and no lives were lost. The fire destroyed a few foodstuffs and, the blender. Moremi queens gathered at the scene as the hostel porters  tried to put out the fire with buckets of water. When asked if the damages were substantial, Sophie said, "It’s a miracle the woman’s shop is still in one piece because that fire was enormous." As of the time of this reporting, the shop owner had been alerted and was siting in a corner as she sobbed and gave thanks because she didn't incur much loss.
