Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) was thrown into chaos this morning as some students took to the streets to stage a protest. The cause of the protest is yet to be identified, and it is happening less than 24 hours after the announcement of the death of a part 5 student named Ahize Okoli.

The demonstration caused a major disruption to the activities of the university, with students forced to trek long distances and private vehicles turned back. Some classes were disrupted, while others were canceled due to the protest.

Road Blockade mounted by OAU students

The protesting students erected roadblocks, blocking the popular road one of the university, and preventing the movement of buses and bikes.

It is still uncertain what the protest is about, as some sources speculate it might be against the school management, in honor of the deceased, or in opposition to the student union. The school authorities are yet to make an official statement regarding the protest.

Some eyewitness state that the school gate has also been locked

More information will be made available as events unfold.
