Sharp-edged Slabs: The Latest Danger on OAU Sidewalks
Icon Lolade
The worst part is that the new concrete slabs that have been put in place to cover them up are presenting yet another danger to students. These slabs are about four inches thick and wider in circumference than the holes they're meant to cover. That means they don't fit properly, leaving an uneven surface that could trip you up. To make matters worse, they have sharp edges that could cause some serious cuts if you fall.
One way to have reduced the dangers would have been to smooth the round edges, giving them a blunter surface that would be less dangerous in a fall. But unfortunately, this wasn't done. So the danger isn't over yet - these new slabs are also not level with the ground, which means you need to pay extra attention when you're walking over them.
We hope that the authorities in charge will take swift action to improve the safety of the premises. Specifically, we implore them to consider trimming the sharp edges of the new slabs to prevent any potential harm or injuries to students and staff.
In the meantime, be careful out there, and watch where you're stepping

Wow....Thank you so much for this insightful Information.Surprisingly, My friend almost tripped over last week while using the side walk and the concrete slab caused it.....No casualties anyways. We Thank God. But I really hope the Management find a proper lasting solution to this.
