OAU GIANTS VS AAUA

THE REPORT OF THE MATCH BETWEEN OAU and AAUA (4th of August, 2021)

Sponsored by many great firms like "The Stanbic IBTC Bank" (A banking firm), "Minimie" (A food firm), and "BOLD" (a carbonated Drink Producer); the match between OAU and AAUA was an interesting and tension-filled match as the both teams performed excellently to the expectations of their supporters. The match was a relief to the soul for the "BP" (blood pressure) that has so long risen as a result of low "GP" (grade point).

The Obafemi Awolowo University Team (OAU Giants) played against The Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba, 4th of August, 2021 at the main stadium of Obafemi Awolowo University. The semi-final match of the round of sixteen which was hosted by the OAU Giants and scheduled to commence by 4pm was a happy sporty moment for the both teams and their supporters.

After so many hard attempts which yielded no scores for each of the teams, the first-half of the match ended with an equal count of "NIL to NIL".

Marvelled by the result of the first-half, many a spectator knew that each of the team was really a "lion" on the pitch.

The match which was graced by some very important personalities in the society, such as Vice Chancellor of the Great IFE, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede, started its second-half with a rough number of about three thousand (3000) spectators at exactly 5:00pm.

Five minutes into the second half, an OAU Giant player named Olumuyiwa (10) skillfully struggled hard to get the ball into the AAUA's goalpost - It is a goal! The shout of joy was at it's height as OAU students expressed their excitement.

Coach Chike, the OAU Giants' coach was by this time proud of his well-trained footballers. At the OAU Giants' goal, trumpets were blown, shouts of jubilation were made, WhatsApp statuses were updated, many dancing styles were shown - It was a nice goal!

Shortly after, the match continued. The struggle continued by both teams; both teams adopted what OAU was known for "Sports and Struggles." There were many passes, dribbles, throws-in, fouls, free-kicks, and great attempts to let the ball into the goalposts just as good players would do, but all these were futile - no jubilation from either side until a fortune was thrown to the AAUA players as they equalised in injury time. This left a lot of frowns and sadness on many OAU Giants supporters.

With the final whistle blown, the match was brought to a sad end for OAU Giants. AAUA's jubilation was to the roof because they had successfully knocked out OAU from the league.

Spectators drove out of the sport complex in their number with different expressions on their faces.

Final score: 1 - 1
