Almost 60% of Obafemi Awolowo University student do not live on campus, thereby making them vulnerable to all kinds of disaster. It was suprising when the rather heavy rain which poured from the sky caused disaster in Ile-Ife. The flood affected areas where Obafemi Awolowo University Student reside. There is a case of a female student in Moremi Estate, who woke up to see her room filled with water. An event center known as QRS PALACE,  was also affected thereby drowning two brand new cars(a Lexus jeep and a Honda Accord). A resident in Ile-Ife said: “This is not the first time this incident will occur, it happened last year in the month of July precisely the first Sunday. Other affected areas were Ibadan road, some parts of Asherifa Estate, Ede road. There was no death but belongings were lost and destroyed.

Association of Campus Journalists, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile–Ife held her annual induction ceremony on 28th July, 2018. The Induction ceremony took place at Faculty of Administration Extension Building at exactly 11:40am. The ceremony was anchored by the EIC, Newstrack Platform, Adejumo Kabir. The theme: Objectivity in Journalism: A Panacea for Nation Building  which was expatiated by the guest speaker, Mr.  Kehinde Ayantunji, Deputy Chairman NUJ, osun State, where he talked about the basis and ethics of journalism in the society. He admonished all campus journalists to be fearless. Mr. Yousuph Adebayo Grey, an OAP of Great Ife fm, spoke on the sub–theme; Qualities of a 21st Century Broadcaster. He highlighted the salient features of 21st Century broadcasting. He said “To go into the broadcasting profession, you need a good voice that captivates the audience. Raving music artiste, slimcase  performed at the famous amphitheater in OAU campus on the 5th of July 2018  as sponsored  by dream.com in conjunction  with Awo hall executives, OAU. The Oshozondi crooner who recently came into limelight is synonymous with the popular street dance called 'Shaku Shaku' entertained students all night at the prestigious amphitheatre which had played host to numerous artiste over the years. Slimcase who was thrilled with the large turnout of fans hit the stage with series of hit songs which have made him one of the most popular street artiste at the moment in the country. It was never a dull moment as the crowd sang along to every songs he dished out as he made sure the crowd had an entertaining night they would never forget.

By: Ogunjobi Bright    It is no longer a news that students of OAU faces the difficulty of spaces at different  lecture theatres during lectures and it is  dishearten to say the cases  of  spaces at lecture theatres are getting worse every session.     Students lament everyday over unfavourable  venues for their numbers. Imagine over 600 students  having lecture at a venue that have 400 seats. Reference to CHM 101, LIT101, EGL305 @ AUD2, MTH101  and many more.      According to Statistics over 8000 students were matriculated this session and over 3000 students are offering  CHM 101 yet the venue allocated for this course was 1000 seaters lecture theatre, a place which has than less than 1000 seats due to the fact that some of the seats have spoilt.      It is not only part one students that faces this  scenario on OAU campus but majority of the students in the universi...

Lebron James pulled a shocking move which shook cavaliers fans to their toes after agreeing a move to lakers. The move will be the second time lebron will be ditching the Ohio basketball team which happens to be his hometown without Cavs getting paid. Lebron who is free agent this year opted out of renewing his contract at the end of the post season in which he lost the NBA title to rivals Golden State. Ironically he settles for a Lakers team which is also in the same western region with the Golden State and this promises to be an interesting season of NBA basketball.
