LAW STUDENT SOCIETY'S ELECTION     Monday,29 January, 2018 was a moment when the students of the Faculty of Law decided who will hold various political posts in the Law Student Society after the manifesto night which held a day before the election.      The Law students came out in their numbers to exercise their rights as members of the association.     The Association of Campus Journalists held its executive election on Friday, 26th January,2018, at the association's secretariat, Faj Block 2 topmost floor.  The election started minutes past ten, the posts that were contested for are: President, Vice President(Admin), General Secretary, and the P.R.O. The law students society of Obafemi  Awolowo University organizes their annual Ife week. The annual law week which is scheduled to come up from December 11- 16, 2017. According to the chairman of the planning committee for the event, Uzo Felix, he said that "Ife law is the mother of all faculties on Obafemi Awolowo University campus, the programs for the event will encapsulate all events in different forms, as we will be inviting the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha as the Special Guest of honour while the keynote speaker for Popoola annual lecture lecture will be Chief Femi Fani Kayode." While also giving his affirmation on the event, the General Secretary of the planning committee Opatayo said that " the programs and the events of the week will set standard for all events on OAU." The theme of the program will be " Nigeria Yesterday, Today and future the pragmatic approach to our national integration."

This morning the Non-academic staff, OAU, went on partial strike. According to our correspondent who met the Non-academic staff PRO, MR Akinsinlebo about the strike, gathered that the issue is not happening on OAU campus alone, it is also happening in all Federal Universities. The reason behind the uproar is that the Federal government disburse an allowance to all Federal Universities, which the Sharing formula did not favour the Non-academic staff. Mr.Akinsinlebo, the NASU PRO said: " This is a national issue, if you go to U.I, the non-academic staff has shutdown it down. We are not protesting, we are just sensitizing our members about the sharing formula of 89 : 11% , in which 89%  of the money is for Academic staff and 11% is for non-academic staff which compromises of four unions.     In the early hours of Thursday, 26th of October,Obafemi Awolowo University and its environs received the news of the demise of Afolarinmi Mercy, a part 1 student of Micro Biology.       According to Adewumi Samuel,the 100L class representative of Micro Biology said that she was confirmed dead by some group of neighbours who rarely had histories with her. The cause of her death is inscrutable and yet to be determined as some believed  that her death was as a result of emotional pressure and isolation which later made her to commit suicide. The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole,  says all the Monkey Pox test samples obtained from Lagos tested negative.He  said this during a press conference in Abuja on Monday. He said only four cases of monkeypox have been confirmed in Nigeria. Adewole said, “As of October 13, 2017, there were 17 SUSPECTED cases reported from Yenagoa LGA in Bayelsa State. “We have received laboratory confirmation for Monkeypox virus from three of these cases from the WHO Regional Laboratory in Dakar, Senegal. Samples from 12 other cases from Bayelsa were negative. “With these results, four suspected Monkeypox outbreak in Yenagoa have been confirmed with laboratory evidence.
