From Slow Start to Champions: Block 2 Edge Block 1 in 10-Goal Thriller to Clinch Fajuyi Inter-Hall Trophy

Block 2 completed a stunning turnaround to emerge champions of the Adekunle Fajuyi Hall Inter-Block Competition, defeating Block 1 in a dramatic, high-scoring final that was ultimately decided on penalties.

The final, played on Monday, August 3, kickoff around 4:30 p.m., delivered all the intensity and unpredictability expected of a title decider.

Coming into the tournament as underdogs after a shaky start, Block 2 defied expectations early in the game, racing to a commanding three-goal lead in the first half. Their clinical finishing and attacking momentum left Block 1 struggling to find rhythm in the opening stages.

However, Block 1 mounted a fierce comeback in the second half, turning the match into a goal fest. In a thrilling display of resilience and attacking football, they fought back to level the score at 5–5 by stoppage time, forcing the contest into a penalty shootout.

From the spot, Block 2 held their nerve, converting more of their chances to seal victory and lift the trophy in emphatic fashion.

Akorede Kamaldeen once again proved decisive, scoring a brace in the final to secure the tournament’s Golden Boot as the highest goal scorer. His influence throughout the competition was pivotal to Block 2’s success.

Defensively, his identical twin brother delivered a standout performance, earning the Man of the Match award for the final. Meanwhile, Seun Paul was recognized as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament for his consistent brilliance across the competition.

The 14-day tournament concluded on a celebratory note, with each member of the winning Block 2 squad receiving a cash prize of ₦3,000.

From early struggles to ultimate glory, Block 2’s journey will be remembered as one of resilience, belief, and championship character.

Great Ife Students'Union Warns Students Trading Bedspaces At Exorbitant Prices And Illegal Transfer

       Ezekiel Ogunniyi  The Students’ Union of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has issued a stern warning to students against the illegal sale or transfer of allocated bedspaces at exorbitant prices. In a statement released on Thursday, 30th October, and signed by the Union’s President, Adelani David Oluwatodimu (Itabi); Secretary-General, Habeeb Oke Isa (Opeyemi); and Public Relations Officer, Oreoluwa Joseph Olowosile (Wà á là), the Union described the practice as “disturbing” and exploitative.
