ICONS Decides'26. Members Elect New Executives

The ICONS Organization, a news agency under the Association of Campus Journalists, Obafemi Awolowo University (ACJOAU), conducted its 2026/2027 executive elections on Sunday, July 19 at the First Bank Lecture Theatre (FBLT).

The election, originally scheduled for 4:00 p.m., commenced at 4:15 p.m., accommodating delays attributed to the inoperability of CNG buses, which affected members’ arrival. The brief delay also allowed members to interact and introduce themselves before voting began.

In attendance was the immediate past Editor-in-Chief of the organization, who is currently the Chairman of the Guild of Editors, ACJOAU, Adedoyin Oguntade, who charged members to prioritize the progress, continuity, and institutional development of ICONS. He emphasized that every accomplished media professional begins from modest foundations, urging members to maximize opportunities within the organization to build their careers.

A total of 35 ballot papers were prepared, with 18 used for voting and one additional ballot paper utilized for result collation, reflecting a relatively low members turnout.

Following the voting process, Ezekiel Ogunniyi was elected Editor-in-Chief with 14 votes, while Kehinde Ayodele secured the position of Deputy Editor-in-Chief with 10 votes. Adedoyin Onajobi emerged as Production Manager with 16 votes.

Other elected officials include Priscilla Ayankoso as General/Welfare Secretary, Michael Olawuyi as Podcast Manager, Taiwo Adelusi as Social Media Manager, Blessed Elemikan as Assistant Production Manager, Hikmat Babatunde as Assistant Podcast Manager, and Taiwo Boluwatife as Disciplinary Officer.

Notably, Oyinlade Adeyemi and Ijeoma Anele were disqualified from contesting the General/Welfare Secretary position due to absenteeism.

Speaking after the announcement of results, the outgoing Editor-in-Chief, Oluwafemi Adetunji, congratulated the newly elected executives, urging them to foster unity while working collectively to sustain the growth and success of the organization.

Great Ife Students'Union Warns Students Trading Bedspaces At Exorbitant Prices And Illegal Transfer

       Ezekiel Ogunniyi  The Students’ Union of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has issued a stern warning to students against the illegal sale or transfer of allocated bedspaces at exorbitant prices. In a statement released on Thursday, 30th October, and signed by the Union’s President, Adelani David Oluwatodimu (Itabi); Secretary-General, Habeeb Oke Isa (Opeyemi); and Public Relations Officer, Oreoluwa Joseph Olowosile (Wà á là), the Union described the practice as “disturbing” and exploitative.
