ACJ Decides'26: ICONS Members Emerge President, PRO

The Association of Campus Journalists, Obafemi Awolowo University (ACJOAU) on Wednesday 29th July, held her annual election for the 2024/2025 academic session to usher in a new set of leaders. The election took place at ACJOAU Press Room, Block 4, Topmost Floor, Fajuyi Hall.

The voting process which was scheduled for 10AM, began at about 10:50AM with the counting of ballot papers which amounted to 50. 

The voting exercise which was supposed to end by 2PM was extended till 2:30PM to accommodate more voters. Notable electorates were Esther Olatimehin (the incumbent President of the Association), Mercy Ojegbola (Vice President), Adedoyin Oguntade (Chairman, Guild of Editors), Matthew Ogunwale (General Secretary), Mercy Olabiyi (Financial Secretary), Akano Jesuloba (Assistant General Secretary) and Samuel Faseyitan (Librarian). 

At the end of the voting process, Dinyo Rereloluwa emerged as the Director of Socials with 49 valid votes and 1 void vote, Ajayi Mercy emerged Librarian with 32 votes, against her opponent's Olaniyan Boluwatife with 17 vote.,

Also, John Alabi, a member of Icons organization emerge as Public Relations Officer with 48 valid and 2 void votes, Abdulsalam Maymunah was elected Financial Secretary with 46 valid votes and 4 void votes, Akinwunmi Omolola emerged Assistant General Secretary with 30 votes as against her opponent's 19. For the position of General Secretary, Lambe Ifeoluwa defeated Daniel Ifeoluwa with 28 votes to 21, with both aspirants record 1 void vote each.
Akano Jesuloba defeated Ramat Taiwo with a total number of 36 votes to 13 to emerge Vice President, as both candidates recorded one void vote each. Samuel Faseyitan from the Icons Organization, contesting unopposed, emerged as the President with a total number of 50 votes. 

At the end of the voting process, all 50 ballot papers were completely used with Samuel Faseyitan emerging as the 54th President of the Association of Campus Journalists, Obafemi Awolowo University (ACJOAU).

Great Ife Students'Union Warns Students Trading Bedspaces At Exorbitant Prices And Illegal Transfer

       Ezekiel Ogunniyi  The Students’ Union of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has issued a stern warning to students against the illegal sale or transfer of allocated bedspaces at exorbitant prices. In a statement released on Thursday, 30th October, and signed by the Union’s President, Adelani David Oluwatodimu (Itabi); Secretary-General, Habeeb Oke Isa (Opeyemi); and Public Relations Officer, Oreoluwa Joseph Olowosile (Wà á là), the Union described the practice as “disturbing” and exploitative.
