Physics Trashes Bus-Admin, Emerges Champion of OAU Supremacy Cup 2026
The Department of Physics football team has been crowned the champion of the 2026 OAU Supremacy Cup, after defeating the Department of Business Administration, in the one legged final round of the competition, held today, Thursday, 30 April., with the winning team presented medals, awards, and a cash prize of #250,000.
After an intense and thrilling performance from all the competing departments, the grand finale of the 2026 OAU Supremacy Cup, also known as the OAU Champions League, was held today at the OAU Training Pitch 1.
The league, which commenced on Tuesday, 7 April, was wrapped up with an electrifying performance from the finalists, the Department Physics and Business Administration.
In just 13 minutes into the game, an early goal was scored by the Physics side by the center forward, Precious, giving them the lead and courage to win the competition.
With great passion, the Business Administration side tried to equalize before the half time, unfortunately, a brilliant save was made by the Physics goalkeeper, Big Sam, to deny Bus-Admin from leveling up with Physics in the game.

Minutes into the second half, the Physics side sealed their win with another blazing goal from another player, Yusuf. It is noteworthy that the Department of Physics football team did not concede any goal, from the group stage to the end of the tournament.
At full time, awards and medals were presented to the most outstanding players in the overall competition. Ibrahim Adefioye (Movic), from the Department of Physics team, was named the Player of the Tournament.
Movic with the Best Player of the Tournament AwardWhile speaking with the ICONS Organization correspondents, he described the league as "superb" and admitted that he feels good and happy about winning the league and the award.
He also encouraged the Business Administration players to be proud of themselves, as making it to the finals of the tournament has not been quite an easy task.
The Business Administration efforts did not go unnoticed, as a fan admitted that he wished they had won the league, mentioning some key players and brilliant performances, especially from Lakunle and Benjamin.
It's to be recalled that this is the second meeting of Physics and Business Administration in the tournament. During the first meeting at the group stage, the match ended in a goalless draw.
Speaking with the ICONS correspondents, a spectator lauds the organizers for setting up such a "supreme" Supremacy Cup, he further commended the players for giving it their all on their field.
For the Award ceremony, Ibrahim Adefioye (Movic) from the Physics team, was named the Player of the Tournament, the Best Goalkeeper Award goes to the Physics goalkeeper, Adeyefa Samuel (Big Sam), the Best Coach Award was also presented to the Physics Coach, Okinlola Tiolu, while the Golden Boot goes to Ajilore from Animal Science.
