OAU Supremacy Cup 2026 Commence with Strong Buzz on Campus

The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Supremacy Cup, one of the most highly talked-about football tournaments on campus, has again kicked off with strong buzz, with the first match held on Tuesday, 7 April, at the OAU Training Pitch 1 and 2, bringing together sixteen departmental football teams, in a series of competitive fixtures.

The tournament, organized by ISCO Sports, is reportedly in its third edition and has continued to gain popularity within the university community, it has garnered significant attention and jubilation on campus, as it is often regarded as one of the biggest football tournaments within the confines of the university.

As the new season begins, only sixteen teams are currently in the group stage of the tournament, with all set to clash to qualify into the knockout rounds and emerge the winner of the 2026 supremacy cup. 
Early matches have already witnessed intense competition, with several teams displaying strong form
The result of the first match held on Tuesday, 7 April, revealed that Accounting, Computer, and Philosophy all finished with a clean sheet 2-0 victory against their opponents—Goeology, Animal Science, and Medical Rehab respectively. ASE also had a 2-1 victory against Biochemistry, while KHR defeated Elect Elect with a 1-0 victory. 
The match between Agric Engineering (AGE) and Public Admin, Business Admin and Physics ended with a goal less draw, as both teams failed to see the back of their goalposts. Similarly, Microbiology and Mathematics finished their match with a 1-1 draw.

Speaking with the organizers, Isco Sport noted that the main aim of the tournament is to promote unity among players while also providing a platform for students to showcase their football talents. He also expressed his gratitude to students, fans, and the head coach (Coach Faleti), for their continued support and impressive turnout.

As it stands he tournament continues today, Thursday, 9 April, at OAU Training Pitch 1 and 2, with more anticipation that the teams would deliver exciting actions.
