‎OAU Elite 8 Emerge in JOT Cup Maiden Edition

The OAU Elite 8, comprising of the top four teams from the JOT League, and the first four qualified teams from the quarter-final stage of the Great Ife Football League (GIFL), has officially emerged in the first edition of the JOT Cup tournament, which commenced on Saturday, 11 April.  

From the JOT League, the top four teams include Agricultural Engineering (1st position), Computer Science (2nd Position), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (3rd position), and Mathematics (4th position).

Similarly, from the Great Ife Football League (GIFL), the qualified teams are Animal Science (1st position), Philosophy (3rd position), Business Administration (quarter-finalist), and Physics, which occupies the open slot to complete the Elite 8. 

‎One unique feature of the JOT Cup is its standard match duration of 45 minutes, which distinguishes it from many other football competitions that do not follow official match timing.

‎The OAU Elite 8 stage is regarded as a gathering of the best-performing teams in the JOT League Cup. This structure ensures that the competition remains highly competitive and showcases the highest level of talent across departments.

‎‎JOTSport is a private sport brand that deals with the development of athletes, players, sales of sportswear and sport materials, providing consultation, officiating services, and sports event management .

‎In an interview with the tournament organizer, the CEO of JOTSport, Oludare Oluwatosin, revealed that the JOT Cup was created to introduce a more structured and standard form of football on campus, emphasizing that the competition is designed to promote unity and strengthen relationships among students.

Oludare also expressed excitement and gratitude, stating that he was very happy to see the tournament commence successfully and remains hopeful for a smooth and successful competition.‎ He also acknowledged that there were some unexpected challenges encountered during the planning of the event.

‎Speaking further, he explained the participation process, stating that all teams were required to submit their player lists at least 72 hours before the commencement of the competition, adding that students interested in joining must be registered members of their departmental teams.‎

‎The JOTSport Elite 8 tournament not only highlights competitive excellence but also fosters unity and engagement among students, as teams compete for the ultimate title.
