One Month After Icons Report, Students' Union Releases Bus Donation Map; Raised Amount Differs
The Great Ife Students' Union provided the breakdown for the crowdfunding of the Great Ife Students' Buses on Friday, January 17. This follows the report published by The Icons Organization on December 11, 2024, which addressed the issue of accountability regarding the donations for the union buses.
According to the release, the amount that has been raised is ₦174,290. The targeted number of buses is 25, and the targeted amount to procure them is one hundred and eighty million naira (₦180,000,000). In addition, the targeted number of napeps to be procured is 25, with a targeted amount of one hundred and five million naira (₦105,000,000).
The Great Ife Students' Union launched a crowdfunding initiative in October to address ongoing transportation challenges faced by students.
The initiative aims to secure commercial buses and tricycles as sustainable solutions to the transportation crisis in the area, where Town Gboro drivers have maintained a monopoly.
