Adetunji Oluwafemi (Àyànféelédùmarè), a prominent member serving as the Production Manager of the Icons Organization, received the "Lekan Otufodunrin Campus Journalism Best Fellowship 2024 Award" on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Additionally, he was honored with the Overall Best Fellow award across all categories by the African Foundation for Young Media Professionals (AFYMP) during the 3rd edition of the Africa Media Come Alive Forum 2024, which took place today at the Center for Management and Development in Magodo, Lagos.

The African Foundation for Young Media Professionals (AFYMP) is a Nigerian media outlet and the founder of a news website called "Nigeria Grassroot News." It was established to strengthen and promote a vibrant, independent African media landscape that supports professionals who advocate for an open, inclusive, and sustainable society.

The AFYMP Campus Journalism Fellowship 2024 began in late April, inviting campus journalists across Africa to submit entries for selection in a 2-day fellowship and workshop. Fortunately, Ayanfe was among the 19 shortlisted campus journalists from four African countries, including Nigeria, Kenya, Zambia, and Mali.

The 2-day campus journalism fellowship and workshop of AFYMP was held at the University of Ibadan from May 15th to 16th, 2024, featuring facilitators such as Mr. Kabir Adejumo, Lekan Otufodunrin, Damilola Fajinmi, and Bolanle Ayoola.

Sequel to this 2-day training, fellows were tasked with writing and submitting at least 2 news reports for this media organization (AFYMP) within a stipulated time. However, Ayanfe was able to exceed the limit, as he provided 7 investigative and feature news reports, along with an additional collaborative news report for the organization, even before the deadline.

Ayanfe wrote 7 reports during the fellowship. Some of these reports include; "Underage Street Hawkers: Survival is Our Major Motivation," "Tap-Tap-Tap: Tears, Anguish, and Joy of Players," "In Ibadan, Petroleum Marketers Became 'Shylock'," "Inability of OAU Management to Produce Students' ID Cards Made Many Miss Exams," and "OAU and the Deplorable Student Accommodations amongst others.

The award was presented to him at the event today by Mr. Lekan Otufodunrin, the man after whom the award was named. Aside from the award, Ayanfe has now become a correspondent for the Africa Foundation for Young Media Practitioners (AFYMP), as his name has entered the award rolls of the organization.
