LAUTECH Students Sue Oyo State Governor Over Relocation of Faculty of Agriculture



Ogbomosho, Nigeria – Students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) have filed a lawsuit against the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, over his decision to relocate the Faculty of Agriculture Sciences to Iseyin, Oke Ogun geo-political zone.

The students, who are scheduled to resume at the new campus next semester, are seeking a court order to restrain the governor and his agents from going ahead with the relocation plan. They are also seeking an order to compel the governor to return all facilities and equipment that have already been moved to the new campus.

The students argue that the relocation plan is illegal and unfair, as it was not made in consultation with them or other stakeholders. They also argue that the new campus is not ready for occupation, and that the relocation would cause them undue hardship.

The governor has defended the relocation plan, arguing that it is necessary to ensure that all parts of the state benefit from the university's educational programs. He has also promised to provide all the necessary facilities and equipment at the new campus.

The court has yet to fix a date for the hearing of the lawsuit.

Implications of the Lawsuit

If the students are successful in their lawsuit, it could delay or even halt the relocation of the Faculty of Agriculture Sciences to Iseyin. This would be a major setback for the governor's plans to develop Oke Ogun geo-political zone.
