GRAMMYS OR SCAMMYS??

GRAMMYS OR SCAMMYS????

The nominations for the 2024 Grammy Music Awards were announced on October 10, 2023. The annual Grammy Awards premiere ceremony is set to take place on the 4th of February 2024, at the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles. However, the state of nominees has been a subject of diverse opinions as it has left many dissatisfied. Several deserving artists were snubbed in major categories or even worse, shut out of the ceremony entirely. Let's take a look at some talented artists that were snubbed by the Grammys.

  1) PESO PLUMA

While Latin music has been dominating the pop charts, it is unfortunate that it did not receive recognition in the top four categories. It would have been great to see Peso Pluma, the artist who introduced traditional Mexican music to the mainstream and gained international fame this year, nominated for the Best New Artist category. Perhaps in the future, the music industry can work towards becoming more inclusive and diverse in its recognition of talent.

2) MORGAN WALLEN

It's worth noting that Morgan's exclusion from the nominations for Song or Record of the Year came as a surprise to many, given that he is one of America's top recording artists, and his album held the top spot on Billboard's Top Country Album chart for an impressive 28 weeks. While Wallen's "Last Night" was the best-selling song of the year and was deservedly nominated for Best Country Song, it's important to remember that the award goes to the songwriters, and as Wallen wasn't a credited writer, he didn't share in that award. Nonetheless, the artists have achieved significant success, and it's exciting to see such talented performers contributing to the music industry.

3) JIMIN AND JUNGKOOK OF BTS

It's unfortunate to note that the Grammys have once again overlooked the contribution of K-pop music. However, it's encouraging to see that despite the repeated snubs, BTS members have earned solo hits, and it's high time that the Grammys recognize their achievements. Jimin with "Like Crazy" and Jungkook with "Seven" (featuring Latto) were both eligible for the Record of the Year, and their exclusion is a glaring oversight. It’s time for the Grammys to acknowledge the immense talent that K-pop music brings to the table and give it the recognition it deserves.

The Grammys have overlooked some of the most talented artists this year, including Pink Panthress, Raye, Karol G, Zach Bryan, Sabrina Carpenter, and Rema. These artists have poured their hearts and souls into their music, and they deserve recognition for their hard work. As fans, it's up to us to amplify their voices and show the world what they're capable of. Let's support these artists by streaming their music, attending their concerts, and spreading the word about their talent. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that these artists get the recognition they deserve.
