The Students' Union of Obafemi Awolowo University has issued a notice informing the public of a scheduled rock blasting operation set to take place near the SUB Bus Stop. The announcement, made on Sunday, November 19, specified that the controlled blasting is planned for approximately 3:30 pm.

This information was provided by the University's Chief Security Officer, who has been actively involved in the planning process to ensure the safety and security of all students.

The Students' Union has emphasized that there is no cause for concern among the student body. Safety measures are the top priority, and the Union reassures everyone that all necessary precautions are being taken.

Students are encouraged to follow all safety protocols and to cooperate with university authorities and the security team on-site. This cooperation is essential to guarantee that the rock blasting is conducted smoothly and without incident.

The debate is part of the events that have been prepared for Fresher’s Week 2024. The event experienced a slight delay, as the venue was moved from the 1000-seater to Oduduwa Hall by the order of the school management, which requested that the initial venue be vacated because the office of the Vice President, responsible for the event, failed to seek permission before using it.
