Leicester City have announced the departure of manager Brendan Rodgers as they fight to remain in the English Premier League (EPL). The decision was reached by mutual consent following a below-par performance this season that saw the team drop into the EPL bottom three. Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, which extended the team's winless run to six games, was the final straw.

Rodgers, who spent four years in charge of the team, had previously led them to two top-five finishes in the Premier League and their first-ever FA Cup success in 2021. However, the club's board felt that the desired improvement had not been forthcoming, leading to the mutual decision to part ways.

In a statement, Club chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said that it had been their belief that continuity and stability under Brendan's management would be key to correcting their course, especially given their previous achievements. He added that with ten games left in the season, the board was compelled to take alternative action to protect their Premier League status.

Chris Davies, Rodgers' assistant, and first-team fitness coach Glen Driscoll also left the team, while first-team coaches Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell were put in immediate caretaker charge, tasked with preparing the side for Tuesday's game against Aston Villa. The club's chairman urged everyone - fans, players, and staff - to come together and show the poise, quality, and fight to secure the team's position as a Premier League club.
