Bungeoppang: How To Make The Perfect Korean Pie
Every K-Drama contains scenes where characters eat a lot. Some dishes appear in K-dramas so frequently that you yearn for them. I was automatically drawn to the series of adorable episodes about bungeoppang while watching the popular television show VINCENZO. Why don't we have something similar in Nigeria? It would make the ideal fish pie. Just think about ordering a fish pie and receiving one that looks exactly like a fish. Amazing, huh?
Bungeoppang is a fish-shaped pastry with sweet fillings, usually made with red bean paste, although there are lots of other flavors like custard or chocolate. You don't need to travel down to Korea to enjoy their wonderful dishes. With the recipe below, you can make it at home.
Ingredients for Bungeoppang:
🟠1 cup of sifted plain flour.
🟠2 tablespoons of baking powder.
🟠Half a tablespoon of salt.
🟠Milk or water.
🟠3 tablespoons of caster sugar.
🟠1 tablespoon of melted butter.
🟠1 egg.
Fillings:
🟠Sweetened red bean paste.
🟠Custard.
🟠Chocolate.
🟠Cheese.
🟠Nutella.
Step One:
In a medium bowl, thoroughly combine all the ingredients for the batter. Put the mixture in a jug with a spout so that you can easily pour it.
Step Two:
Heat a bungeoppang pan at a low temperature. Brush some melted butter or cooking oil on the pan as soon as possible.
Step Three:
Pour the batter mixture onto the bungeoppang pan, only partially covering the pan. Then, add more batter mixture to the top to cover the fish mold after adding your preferred filling. Put the lid on the pan and immediately flip it over.
Step Four:
Cook the fish pastry until it turns golden brown on both sides of the pan. Take the fish pastries out of the pan and let them cool on a plate.
Serve with a chilled Soju, the traditional Korean beer, and enjoy.
