Is King of Boys 3 already produced? Kemi Adetiba clears the air
"KOB 3" is currently in the works! What is Kemi Adetiba up to?
Guysssss! Kemi Adetiba isn't ready to lose her grip on us anytime soon. She's definitely got a lot cooking, and I dare say y'all aren't even ready for what's coming. Guess what? "KOB 3" is currently in the works!
The visual troublemaker and avid storyteller, who tied the knot with the love of her life early last year (in 2022), took to her Twitter page to make the announcement. She tweeted "KOB 3," a tweet suggesting that the third installment of the "King of Boys" movie franchise is already in the works.
With the loads of comments and retweets the post got in the blink of an eye, you can already tell that fans are really anticipating what is to come.
Similarly, in an IG post dated August 27th, 2022, which also happened to be the one-year anniversary of the release of "KOB 2," Kemi wrote:
"Thank you all for anticipating "KOB 3" as badly as we want to give it. We know there's been lots of questions here, whispers there on whether KOB will ever come back... So we're here to remove all doubt on this precious one-year anniversary release of "KOB 2.' YES... 'KOB 3' is coming... And coming soooooon." – a sequel, that is!
Recall that the first part of the Movie, "KOB 1," was released in 2018, and then the latter part, "KOB 2: The Return of the King," in 2021. Looking back at how the second part ended, one would expect a more extensive plot development as opposed to an open-ended film. And with the multiple plot twists Kemi presented us with in the first two seasons, we're no doubt in for much more in the coming one! One thing that really thrilled me even till the end when I saw "The Return of the King" was the undying energy Toni Tones brought in. Baby girl did and perfected her assignments; she delivered! as it should be! 💯
Written, produced, and directed by Kemi herself, "King of Boys" centers on Nigerian politics and crime, tracing the life and political journey of Alhaja Eniola Salami, a businesswoman and philanthropist who, in the background, has illegal dealings and a series of criminal underworld connections.
Those connections eventually become threats to Eniola's growing political ambitions, which ensue in a power tussle that costs her a lot in the wake of her return to her homeland.
While we're still on the lookout for "KOB 3," the Sapphire Movie Producer announced a live open call audition for roles in other projects she's working on. Some of these projects include "To Kill a Monkey" and "Welcome to the 4th Floor," among others, which she announced in July.
Her post says:
"Bending to the threatening messages I've been receiving, I'm super excited to announce our next project and film from the KAV stables... 'TO KILL A MONKEY'
"Once again, I'm branching out and exploring something really different and pushing my creative limits, but I thoroughly believe in my spirit that this is my next challenge to conquer." "I've never been one to take the easy or clear route, so this leap is as exciting as it is scary."
The auditions were slated for December 12th and 13th, 2022, at a location in Lekki, Lagos State. According to her, they're looking out for "new, fresh talent" who'd take on supporting roles as well as lead roles in all of the lingering projects—an opportunity for budding actors.
“You asked for it. Open audition calls go out next week for two new KAV projects. "To Kill a Monkey" and "Welcome to the 4th Floor." I’m really, really looking for that next star (or stars). "It's exciting with a fresh burst of energy, so I need everyone coming for the auditions to bring it.”
Kemi Adetiba's trajectory in its entirety has been a mind-blowing one. Not only did she segue from trying her hands at directing music videos to doing full-time movie production and directing, she's undoubtedly been the best at it, with her ability to infuse all the necessary elements of drama in her works.
What are your expectations for "KOB 3"? Do you think we'll be as glued to our screens? What new concepts do you wish to see Kemi add? Share your thoughts with me in the comments!
