Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the ex-Governor of Lagos State, emerges as the winner of the All Progressives Congress Presidential primary election.
He was declared the winner amongst many other aspirants, including the vice president of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, after the successful election on Wednesday, June 8th.
The election program started with 23 aspirants, but before the commencement of the election, 9 aspirants withdrew from the race. Seven of them gave their full support to Tinubu, one stepped down as vice president, and the last person did not declare their support for any of the aspirants.
In the long run, Tinubu Ahmed won with 1,271 votes, the first runner-up, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, had 316 votes, and vice president Yemi Osibajo took the third position with 235 votes. All other votes from other aspirants sum up to be 280 votes.
Bola Ahmed, in his winning speech, said he holds no grudges and grievances toward those who did not support him and they need not fear him, but they should join hands in defeating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
