Reported by the BBC news, the Zimbabwean independence icon turned authoritarian leader died on 6th of September, 2019.
It has been gathered that Mr Mugabe was receiving treatment in a hospital in Singapore since April before he died.
Robert Mugabe was born on 21 February, 1924 in what was called then the Rhodesia- a British colony. It was reported that he (Robert Mugabe) was imprisoned for more than a decade without trial, after criticising the government in 1964. In 1973, he was still in prison when he was chosen as president of Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU), of which he was a founding member.
Robert Mugabe became the president on 31st December, 1987 up till 21st November, 2017. He was forcefully overthrown in a military coup in 2017, after his 37 years in power. The former president was commended for improving the access to health and educational sector for the black majority.
It was gathered that his later years were marked by violent acts and violent repressions of his political opponents and Zimbabwe's economic ruin.
Emmerson Mnangagwa the current president of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe's successor took to his twitter handle to express his grief at the loss of the ex president, calling him "an icon of liberation." Mr Mnangagwa was formerly the deputy to Robert Mugabe.
To some, Robert was an evil dictator who should have ended his days in jail for crimes against humanity. To others, he was a revolutionary hero, who fought racism oppression and stood up to Western imperialism and neocolonialism.
