I Did Not Receive Any Rice Palliative - Omoboriowo Damilola, Students' Union President

By Samuel Faseyitan
The Great Ife Students' Union President, Omoboriowo Damiola Isaac (Dr. Bush), has, in a release, debunked claims of receiving a rice palliative from the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Student Engagement. A claim was circulated earlier on Tuesday, January 15th, stating that rice was being distributed as palliatives to Student Union Presidents for Christmas.

The president reacted to this claim with an official release stating that he is unaware of the authenticity of the release and that he has not received such distribution. However, he would not be accepting such distribution even if it is authentic, as his primary focus as the President of the Great Ife Student Union remains advocating for better standards of education and the welfare of the students, not accepting handouts that do not address the systemic challenges facing the Nigerian education sector.

He further acknowledged the probability of government intentions of goodwill; however, he insisted on his stance that such efforts should be directed toward improving quality education, reducing tuition fees, and taking other steps for the betterment of the student community. He urged the public to disregard the claim associated with his name in the release and assured the administration's commitment to championing the interests of great life. As the President of the Great Ife Student Union, he continues to advocate for better standards of education and the welfare of students, refusing to accept handouts that do not address the systemic challenges facing the Nigerian education sector.
