The Pedestrian Lane is Being Expanded and Properly Defined - Prof. Odedire

By Yakubu Oluwatoyin
On 3rd December 2024, OAU commenced the excavation and extension of the right side of Road 1. This action was preceded by a survey and landmarking of the bridge after the gate to First Bus Stop.

This construction is part of the various renovations and buildings, such as the renovation and expansion of the campus gate and the perimeter fencing of the OAU environs, which extends to the Modomo area of Ife.

In a conversation with the Dean, Division of Student Affairs, Professor John Odedire, he stated that the road construction is an extension and refurbishment of the existing pedestrian/bicycle lane. In his words, the pedestrian lane is being expanded and properly defined.

This feat will encourage students to invest in bicycles rather than Town-gboro buses. Furthermore, the creation of a pedestrian lane will reduce the rate of accidents and road injuries incurred by students along Road 1.
