Management Installs a New Pumping Machine in Angola, Set to Provide Water Between Blocks A and D

By Adetunji Oluwafemi
Sequel to the peaceful demonstration held earlier today, Monday 7th April 2025, at the Angola Hall of Residence, where residents, presumed to be desperate and unequivocal, were spotted dumping their buckets in front of the hall warden's office with a demand that he provide a lasting solution to the hall's persistent struggle with water scarcity.

The peaceful demonstration, which led to the closure of the hall's main entrance, soon spread like wildfire across the management and the university community at large.

At about a few minutes past 9 a.m., the Vice Dean of the Division of Student Affairs, Dr. L.O. Olasunkanmi, and the Chairman of the Security Committee, Professor Akinfala, arrived at the hall of residence to ensure that everything was in order. They promised to fix both boreholes, dig the well in block D, and connect water to the tanks situated between blocks A and D.

The white tanker that usually discharges "dam water" across the hall of residence was sighted around 9:20 a.m. to deliver dam water as usual. However, the residents refused the offer and adamantly requested a lasting solution in the form of a new pumping machine and a new borehole to effectively address the hall's persistent problem of water scarcity.

The Hall Warden, upon arriving at the hall, was in awe as he saw different sizes of buckets and kegs dumped at the entrance of his office. However, he passed them and went straight to the pumping machine, where immediate intervention began.

A brand new pumping machine was delivered to the hall at around 10:00 a.m. It was quickly installed and began operating immediately, allowing residents to start fetching water from the new machine.

The management is yet to commence work on making the pumped water available in the tankers situated between Blocks A and D of the hall of residence. However, the Chairman of the Security Committee stated that they would start fixing it tomorrow and set Friday as the deadline for resolving all the water issues in the hall of residence.
